Warranty Forecasting

Reliability models may be used to forecast the number of failures and resulting expense expected in future time periods based on previous sales and reported failures. When a warranty period is specified, only those units that are expected to fail during the warranty period may be forecasted. Often field data consists of multiple non-homogeneous groups/populations (due to different design levels or quality spills) and these groups should be accounted for during the modeling.
